Member Event
Hospitals are required to conduct a full scale exercise to test capabilities for a surge of patients (example: mass casualty event). This is important so that LMC can identify strengths and weaknesses to improve upon in case of a real life event. As a volunteer you will represent a patient. There is no acting required! The only requirement is that you are willing to walk throughout the LMC hospital from one unit to another.
- The Drill will be held at SCL Health Lutheran Medical Center 8300 West 38th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO 80033.
- Friday, December 7th, 2018
- 8 am-11:45 am
Check in begins at 8 am with refreshments (coffee, donuts, and juice)
- Volunteer Questions and Answers for Influx of Patients to Emergency Department
- Full Scale Exercise/Drill
Q: What is an influx of patients drill?
A: All hospitals are required to conduct an annual full scale exercise (FSE) drill to test capabilities for a surge of patients who arrive to our Emergency Department for care in cases of emergencies (example: pandemic flu, mass casualty event). This is important so that the hospital can identify what processes work well and need to be improved upon so that we can respond to a real life scenario and meet our community needs.
Q: What will be my role as a volunteer for this drill and do have to “act?”
A: You will represent a patient who is pre-identified as having a critical, moderate or minor injury. You will be registered as a fake patient in our system and we will track your activity and movement through designated overflow areas of the hospital. You will not have to “act.”
Q: How do I sign up if I’m interested and what is the schedule?
A: Simply email or contact LuJean Odle at (303) 425-8547 or lujean.odle@sclhealth.org if you are interested no later than Friday, November 30, 2018. Below is the schedule:
Q: Are there any requirements for volunteers?
A: Be willing to walk throughout the LMC hospital from one unit to another (Example: Learning Center to Emergency Department and then Emergency Department to GI Lab). Please let us know how we can accommodate any special needs.
